Overspray Frequently Asked Questions
We know you have many questions about Detail Masters and our services. Here are
some of the most frequent ones we’re asked. Please remember that we’re available
to answer any other questions you may have. You can contact us by e-mail, regular
mail, telephone or fax.
Is the Detail Masters process going to damage my
clearcoat ?
No. Our processes have been found safe by most major
automotive manufacturers and have been proven to be clearcoat safe.
Overspray usually sits on top of the clearcoat, Detail Masters system is
designed to remove the contaminant not your clearcoat.
My Dealer told me
not to let anyone clean my vehicle because it will void my warranty. Is
that true?
The automotive manufacturers warranty your vehicle, not the dealership.
Our processes have been tested by most manufacturers and will not void
the warranty. Detail Masters process will not remove or alter the state
of the clearcoat; therefore, it will not affect any warranties.
How long will it
take to clean my vehicle?
Depending on the size and color of the vehicle and the severity of the
overspray, a 3 man crew will average approximately 3-5 hours per
vehicle. The supervisor on site will be able to confirm the estimated
completion time when you drop off the vehicle.
What about the
overspray on my moldings?
Detail Masters can clean most moldings then recondition with a
non-abrasive, oil based cleaner. If the moldings are not cleanable, then
the supervisor will go over other options with you.
What about the
overspray on my windows?
Detail Masters uses a non abrasive synthetic clay on all glass surfaces
to remove the overspray. This is the safest and most thorough way to
clean the glass.
What about my wax
or sealant on the vehicle?
After removing the overspray from your vehicle, Detail Masters will
polish your vehicle, and then apply a polymer sealant to the vehicle.
How do you clean
my vehicle?
All Detail Masters cleaning procedures are done by hand. In most cases we
use a special synthetic clay to remove the overspray, then we use an oil
based cleaner that we specifically manufacture to remove any residues on
the vehicle. After the overspray is removed, we polish the vehicle and
apply a polymer sealant.
Do you use
buffers?
Detail Masters does not use buffers in most Detail Masters removal
processes. However, a dual action polisher (often referred to as a DA
tool) is used in the finish product application for uniformed
application.
Do you have a
guarantee?
Detail Masters does guarantee that the process we use will not harm your
finish. We cannot guarantee your paint job, because we did not do your
paint job, but we do stand behind our work.
How much does this
cost?
Our
prices are determined upon the quantity and sizes of the vehicles, the
severity of the overspray and what type of paint or emission was
oversprayed on the vehicles. This is a variable cost and is usually
negotiated with the insurance company or contractor handling your claim.
My body shop
that I have been going to for years says the vehicle needs to be
repainted, what makes you think you can clean it?
Detail Masters specializes in overspray removal. Most body shops
techniques will not be successful in overspray removal. Their
conventional methods or repainting are also more profitable for the body
shop. Detail Masters' processes are both safe and effective in restoring
your vehicle to its pre-loss condition.
